I got a green slimer from MarkieMark (Thanks Mark!). It was doing great, but I think I put it too high in my tank to soon and my LEDs have made it start bleaching from the base. I have moved it down to the lower half of the tank, but I was wondering should I super glue it to separate the bleached base from the healthy tissue, cut it, dip it in iodine or just leave it alone? I love this piece and don't want to wait around and lose it. Everything else in the tank is doing great. Parameters - SG 1.25, Calcium 480, Phosphate .002, Nitrates 10, ALK 9, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Mag 1350, temp 78. Weekly dose of Lugol's yesterday, but it was bleaching before that.

Has the base lost tissue or just lightened up? If its tissue loss, I would go ahead and frag it off but if its just bleached I would leave it be.

Its totally white (no visible tissue) with no PE at the base, there has been no tissue sloughing though. It's about a 5" stalk with the bottom 1" bleached.

Keep an eye on it, if it starts to spread frag it.

Bleaching before the base? And before that?

Sounds like parameter issues. Slimers are sensitive to alk swings. Mine used to rtn from the Base on and off when I switched salt.
