Help with my Murder Mystery

Never be ignorant with Zoa’s and Palythoas. I don’t think there unsafe for the hobby, just got to be mindful, use good practices with them. I think there might be the possibility some people are more sensitive to them, nonetheless, they are toxic, if you did suspect some zoa’s toxicity in your water, break out the carbon, 10% WC, keep things cycling and keep a closer eye on anything that seems unusual. I agree with the previous post saying the corals you have will pull through with some TLC and definitely take advantage of some 4th of July bargains.

Any possibility that some of the corals on the rock could have released Palytoxin when they got angry, and that’s what caused all the invert deaths? (I asked about the zoas before and a couple people suggested at least one of the species in the colony was Palythoa.)
I wouldn't expect palytoxin to harm tank inhabitants. I have ripped them off by the dozens using forceps and never seen a negative impact on the tank even when not running GAC
I've pulled these and the bright green ones as well as paly grandis while in the tank.

If nothing else, I may serve as a warning to others.

Things are OK. My urchin hasn’t moved in three days but when I picked him up to dispose of him I saw the cilia moving near his mouth, so I’m praying for the little guy. Yesterday I thought I detected a whiff of ammonia from the water—the Seachem badge didn’t show anything but I did an API test and it showed a slight ammonia reading. After everything that went wrong I decided it was worth giving another boost of FritzZyme and things are looking and smelling better today. One of the Clove polyps has opened a little and the GSP is starting to come back out as well. The zoas are all still either angry or dead, I don’t know the difference.

I found one Nerite snail still alive hanging out near the water line. He rode in on the urchin. I guess he’s an indicator that the crisis has mostly passed. The Poly filter never showed a specific toxicant.
