Help with Protein Skimmer

I have a 47G Tideline Lagoon tank, I currently have the Eshopps nano skimmer. I am struggling to get a good foam, its always been too watery and if I put the cup at a height thats easy to access the cup its too high. I'm thinking about replacing it with an Ice Cap K1-50 skimmer. Would it fit in an AIO and be a good choice for this tank?

How long has your tank been up? What livestock do you have? A full tank shot would help.

There may not yet be enough organics in your water to generate consistent foam.

it’s been about 3 weeks, we have two mollies in there right now, planning on changing them out in a coming weeks. I was mainly seeing if anyone has had any experience with the Icecap K1-50.

The K1-50 has a footprint of 4.75 x 3.5 inches and all I can find about your tank is the width of the filter socks at 3 x 5 inches. To be sure you should measure your chambers to make sure it fits. Based off of what I can find online it doesn't seem likely.

I have seen this skimmer recommended by others but I have never used it myself.

I have the tideline 62g (I believe this has the same dimensions in the rear chamber as the 47g) and just put the K1-50 in. In order to make it fit I did have to cut the feet off the base so I could rotate the pump 90 degrees. The pump is about 1/4-1/2” too long when you include the power cord coming out and the inlet would be right up against the glass most likely restricting flow to the pump.

I’m just getting back into the hobby after a 10yr hiatus and didn’t run a skimmer in my previous nano tank so don’t have much to offer as far as a comparison.

I was able to get it to work by just dropping the pump lower without cutting anything.

I like your mod a bit more than mine lol. How do you like the skimmer so far? I set it up last night and was surprised to wake up to some decent skimmate already

It’s great, Haven’t had an issue with it at all.
