On Saturday I got a BTA for my clownfish, and the BTA sadly passed away. At the store, however, there were these great, healthy, condy anemones that have been in the store, unnerving, with other fish, for weeks. I took the chance and got one. Everything was normal last night, accept for the clown being more reclusive than normal. I wake up and the clown is acting funny and my bicolor blenny is dead! What should I do? Return the anemone? Take my chances?

Get the water changes ready. Is it a small tank?

Yes, ten gallons. I just found out my clown died, too. I'll post a link to my thread if you want to see what I do.
dang. sorry that's horrible.
Im not an expert by any means, Just a journeyman IMO. I have to suspect chem warfare.
FWIW and part of my new regimen In quarantine. I went to a talk w Bob Fenner, one of the things he said about chemical warfare is to slowly trade small amounts of tank water back and forth. Not only does this help acclimate organisms to the bacterial population of the display, it also hellps the animals to "smell" each other, and not completely be surprised by the new addition and release large amounts of chems. I had read this before and its part of the rational behind putting animals low in the tank in larger systems.
With a recent BTA death in a small system, could be.

Condy's do not host clowns or other fish in the wild. They will kill fish that are not acclimated to their strong sting, if your clown dived right in the fish was probably badly stung.
With that said, in a newer 10 gallon tank I would first rule out chemistry for both the demise of the fish and the BTA.

The BTA wasn't looking healthy when I got him, it wasn't me. Also, I'm running activated carbon. Today I'm going to do a 50% water change just in case, return the anemone, and get a royal gramma and a clown goby probably. I don't want to mess with anemones again for a while.
