Yeah wow, that was quick. Put me on the spot why dontcha? lol I'm sure your anemone will love it.

One other thing with cloudy water due to bacteria is to consider some extra aeration with a pump and airstone until it clears up. Bacteria consume oxygen so the level might be a little low in the water until things clear up.

thanks for the responses i currently have done a 10 % water change weekly every Sunday. I have been monitoring the levels of the tank closely to make sure there all in check. I did notice a little higher phosphate and nitrate around 0-5. My anemone is still a brightly green color with its tenticals extended the only weird thing i noticed is its hiding under a cave like opening inside a rock. i will post pictures around lunch also seems to have hosted a crab. I will add the uv sterilizer tomorrow. No more additions to the tank for a while for sure. i kinda figured its due to a imbalance in the ecosystem. See i come from fresh water i have about 4 fresh water tanks heavily planted and stocked that have been doing very well for years. i wanted to switch and try salt water. A little more to the process then fresh and definalty a lot longer cycling time to make a mature well cycled tank.

the coral i added is 1 duncan, sun coral(Tubastraea ), pulsing Xenia which all seem to be looking great i just cant seem to get the darn sun coral to open up during the day only at night ?

Just a quick FYI on the Pulsing Xenia. My wife had me add one to my main tank (she thought it was pretty). Luckily I researched it and put it on it's own island. Three months later it owns the entire island. Grows like a weed. Unless you want it take over your tank be sure to isolate it.

Yea man much appreciated I really don’t want that bubble to die it’s ticked now so Friday it’ll be happy thanks for the advise dang fish store told me to upgrade my light to the Fluval....

Good thing you have somewhere to go for proper advice :cool:. Their lights are ok for marine tanks, if you consider 'marine' to be a fish only saltwater tank. It's splitting hairs for some, but a 'marine' tank and a 'reef' tank aren't the same thing.

It would do, but 'good' might be a bit of an over reach. Looking at it and cautiously reading the reviews, I wouldn't put it over my tank. It might keep your anemone a little happier for a few days until you get the Kessil installed.

Sun coral require low light/shaded areas which is why theyre open at night.
How old/young is this tank?

Fluval Sea Marine & Reef LED 3.0

the anemone seems to be alive and moving but wont come out of under the cave shaded rock ? been about a week was not sure how to set up my light with the fluval on the app i can set the percentage of what light comes through blue, violet, purple, red, white, and some others i cant remember. they are all set to max 100% during the peak of the day and then sunrise and sunset lowers them slowly until its black and all are off.

Typically when adding coral and Nems, I back off on light intensity to allow for acclimation.

Don't worry about your Nem. It will move around until it finds a spot where it is comfortable with light and water flow. Let it be.

Maybe move your sun coral to just near the edge of the shade near the arch.

I looked it up. Is that light like 50-60 watts?

Wondering if that's enough for a nem? It may be, but it sounds like it's def on the lower side of the power spectrum

I generally think 5 watts per gallon. In a 40 gallon tank, that's 200 watts. He may need more than one.

When I choose a light or if I want to know if an existing light is adequate, the things I look for are:

1. Light Spread - This is the area that the light covers in the tank. Think of it this way... if you have a flashlight on and pointing at a wall, as you get closer to the wall, the size of the light on the wall gets smaller. As you back away from the wall, the size of the light gets bigger. This is the light spread. Getting your light to cover the entire footprint of the tank can be achieved by raising it higher above the tank or bringing it closer if the spread is too great.

But that isn't enough...

2. Light Intensity - It isn't enough to have light filling the tank. It also needs to be of adequate intensity. While many people like to measure light using a PAR meter, I own a lux meter and use that to determine if light intensity is adequate. My goal is 8000-10000 lux at the deepest part of the tank.

These are the things to look for when shopping for a light.

between the willis aquarium light and the kessil i should have enough light will have to wait on the light meter im broke now ;) lol

all right everyone lets discuss light intensity for a reef what are your par or lux reading at in your tanks ?
What should i use to measure light lux or par?

any one know why my two clowns only stay in the corner ? they never move out of the area there chilling in. they only come out during feedings ?

P.S. i will move my sun coral to the shade but how the heck do i get it to come out during the day ?

I'd just use the Kessil and monitor, supplementing with the other lights if necessary.
