Hello,

I have a 40 gallon breeder qt tank. All 3 heniochus were healthy at first and ate right away. I slowly ramped up coppersafe to 1.8 using the hanna checker and one died a couple of days later. Now my second heniochus is blotchy and top half is faded. It is still eating but definetly rapid breathing. This qt tank is a couple of months old and cycled. I have already properly qt using coppersafe and and 2 doses of general cure on 8 fish which include, hippo, sailfin, flame angel, emperor angel, blue jaw trigger, longnose butterfly, harlequin tusk and a bristletooth tang. My current qt tank has lunar wrasse, chocolate tang, red coris wrasse and the two heniochus. They are all juveiles. 2-3 inch max. Do heniochus not do well in coppersafe?

Heniochus are just fine in full coppersafe. What dose are you at now. You really shoujj k e get to full dose in 48 hours.

Can you post a video? I’m wondering if these came in with flukes. Coppersafe doesn’t help with that.

I see what looks to be bacterial and ramping copper offers no advantage in fact disadvantage as it allows parasites if present an opportunity to gain hold of a fish. Get to level within 24 hours but also agree, this doesn’t appear to be a protozoan issue

It died over night :( coppersafe level has been constant at 1.80ppm using Hanna. These were shipped from aquarium arts Arizona to Florida. Could shipping be an issue? Also, they were in 1.018 pacific gravity. My qt tank matched the salinity and then i slowly ramped it up to 1.026 over the span of 5 days.

Sorry to hear.

Coppersafe doesn't really work below 2 ppm, with 2.25 being the target dose and 2.5 ppm used for active infections.

Shipping and/or poor condition could be a contributing factor here. Arriving at 1.018 can be a huge issue, but you brought it up slow enough. Really though, for just fish in quarantine, you do not need to go as high as 1.026. 1.021 is best (and then bring the fish up to your DT salinity after treatment).
