So, for the last couple of days, I just got 4 turbo snails, and three of them have died, one just coinidence, but the other two flipped over and I was about to flip one over when I saw his body outside of his shell and the blue leg hermit crab right next to it, this was about 3 days ago, and today my hermit found another one of the turbos flipped over and started eating him. Is my hermit actively hunting flipped over snails or are they all dying because of something and he is just doing his job?

could be either one. Hermits are known to kill snails for their shells if larger shells are not available for them to move into. Snails are also easy prey if the hermits don't otherwise have enough food, especially larger hermits.

Are you sure they were Turbo snails and not Astrea? Turbos can flip themselves over, Astrea cannot. Usually blue leg hermits won't harm snails... unless... they are hungry or looking for a new shell. However, they don't normally choose that shape of shell. They prefer the Cerithium spp., which are horn snails/creeper snails.

I'd be looking at other variables.

I'm pretty sure they are turbo because they have the flap at the entrance of the shell and I have plenty of shells in the tank for him to move into and a lot of large shells, and I have a massive green hair algae bloom, so I don't know what it could be except for the snails just dying. And the weird thing is that only turbo snails die in my tank. I have 1 Trochus snail and 2 Astraea snails and the hermit has never bugged them, but anytime a turbo flips over, he goes and eats them.
