I just put a new frag of Scolymia in the tank today and in no time two large hermit crabs were eating it. Is this normal? Preventable without ditching the hermits?
 
Aquarium Specialty - dry goods & marine livestock
They could be going after dead or dying tissue. Put the Scoly in a shroom box or similar to keep the hermits out.
