Hermit in too large of shell - Knocking stuff over

So....I had a very large empty shell in my biocube mainly as decoration. 2 nights ago my thin stripe hermit moved into it, and NOW he's knocking stuff over left and right. Is there any way to get a hermit crab out of hit shell?

Only thing that I'm thinking I can do is get a pair of pliers, and slowly break the shell apart so he can no longer be in it, and then place him back into the tank so he can go back into the old shell that he was in.

Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

You'll likely kill it trying to get it out of the shell, coming from a fisherman who uses wild hermits to catch Black Drum. I would give it other options in the form of more appropriately sized shells but if it likes the big one it probably isn't going to move out of it since shell real-estate is the most important thing to a hermit crab.

Thanks for the input. There's a ton of more appropriately size shells. I'm hoping he goes back into his old one as since he went into the large one, he's pretty much been staying stationary. So far he knocked over one of my acans that I'm going to have to fix when I get home from work. Can only imagine what will be next.

I would go ahead and secure your corals somehow, snails, fish, hermits, and current will all move them around the tank
