Ok. You asked for my aspirations... here goes.

Hello, anyone who actually looks at this. I'm a retread. I had a 65g Tall tank for about 5 years, ENDING about 8 years ago, when ny third daughter was born. She had some issues that required lots of attention, hence I did not get to maintain my tank. As in, no water checks, no changes...I don't even know if I fed them! I had a blenny ( scooter) , a yellow tang and a clown ( no idea if ocellaris or percula- I didn't even know at the time that there were different types. I also had some hitchhikers, including one cool octopus-looking starfish.
The filtration: A corner overflow into a 10g sump under the tank. Bio-balls, sponge, carbon pockets. Despite all of my neglect, the tank went about 3 months before the fish started dying. Being an amateur, and no internet resources readily available, I didn't know what to do, so.... let's just say the tank was no more. However, I still have it in the den, sand and fake coral in it, and all the tools and gadgets. I'm looking to get it back up and running. However, I have other projects that need to be done around the house before I can enjoy setting the tank up again.

I also have a 45 G bowfront, with two overedge cascade filters at my workplace. It was a transferred Cichlid tank ( transported everything... tank, cabinet, water and fish. It lasted a good while. We had a bully yellow fish ( That I wanted to simply toss out or fry, but coworkers found those ideas ghastly. 4 fish down out of 8 later, I tossed him into my fishpond at home. Only fish in there...he seemed to enjoy life. Until some critter got him in the darkest of the night. Karma, I guess.

That tank then became freshwater, with neon tetras, and such..until someone decided to put Spongebob's Pineapple house into it...from another tank. Before I realized it, the algae attacked. Several tries later, including UV filter, that tank ceased to be, as well. ( And a coworker helping me took the UV filter. Now, I have resurrected it, doing salt, R/O water only, cycled for a month, then put in TWO yellowtailed damsels. The next day, one was floating. I think pescacide, because I still have the other. A few red hair algae blooms, or Diatoms ( Sorry, new to these invading organisms) later, using some packets to kill it, I have added a cleanup crew of 2 Emerald crabs (that aren't really emerald that much),2 red legged hermits, an astraea snail, and 2 Nisseria snails. Of course, I know that they might not be prime for taking care of the certain algae that invade, but shrimp are darn expensive. I'm thinking of mailing away for live stock, though the price AFTER shipping might equal the price I pay at the local shops.
I also got a 10g full setup at PetCo during an after-Christmas sale. I intend to use that as a quarantine tank.

Sorry for the rabble and most likely erroneous terms. But, I'm here to learn, so...

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)
