hey az , got a question for ya or anyone that can answer. what happens when the water temperature warms up for the ro system and you cut the flow restrictor to achieve the desired ratio. I am trying to achieve a 4:1 and im not getting really anything over a 3:1. I cut the flow restrictor as far as I can and its not making any kind of difference. I cannot cut anymore off the flow restrictor. any solutions? thanks

How or why would your incoming water be too warm???? 3 to 1 is normal for me....I get 5 gallons of good water for every 15 gallons of waste water. You're just fine with a 3 to 1.

sorry I was in a hurry writing that. anyhow az told me to watch for the temperature change cause my water temperature changes due to seasonal changes. az told me its good to have two flow restrictors and use one during the summer and one during the winter to keep the membrane flushed. im in a hard water area with tds around 400 so ive got hard water and az says to run 4: 1 ratio. anyhow ive cut the flow restrictor as far as possible and not really getting anything over 3:1 ratio so I was wondering what should a person do once the flow restrictor cannot be cut anymore to achieve the 4: 1 ratio ? anything ? thanks

As water gets warmer in summer months it is less dense, more fluid, so the waste ratio goes down. As it cools off in winter months it becomes more dense so does not pass through the membrane as easily and the waste goes up. I either have one capillary tube flow restrictor I trim during the shoulder months when the water temp is around the middle or if the temp difference summer to winter is drastic as it is in some places then I recommend having two restrictors, one trimmed for winter and one for summer then change it out as the season changes. Takes a total of one minute if that, that is if you remember it. I tape the restrictor right to the membrane housing so it is in plain sight. You may need a different size restrictor to fit your conditions. Buckeye or Spectrapure could advise you on the correct one.

You are smart to stick close to 4:1 if you have hight TDS and hard water, your membrane and your wallet will than you. 3:1 is fine if you have soft water and lower than normal TDS.
