Welcome to R2R! You already got it wet eh? Was it a trial run or do you already have your scape set up? I'm afraid we are gonna have to insist on some pics!
Haha, yeah I just finished filling it last week. My water pressure is abysmal, so it took days to make enough water to mix! Ended up being fine, because I noodled with the scape for faaarrrr too long. o_O I'll look through my pics and start that thread.:-D

You may have to add a booster pump...Never used one but I know they sell them.

I think you’re right. I was looking at them online the other day. I might try moving the unit to a different pipe, and if that doesn’t do the trick then I’ll have to go the booster route. I’m so bad with plumbing - I wish it made more sense to me!

Is there a pressure gauge on your rodi unit ?
On mine between 40-80 is the green section ( generally with new filters it runs around 60psi

A local hardware should have a water pressure gauge for a few bucks to check your pressure. A different water supply (pipe) will likely be the same pressure as any other in the home. Once you confirm your supply pressure, and refer to your RO/DI manual, you will know right away if you need a booster or not.

Hey everyone! I've lurked these threads on and off for years but finally made an account.... I just purchased my first "big girl reef tank" from Waterbox last month ... I've been in this hobby for 8 years, but I've always been very low-tech. I know I'm going to have lots of questions with my new setup and I hope I can lean on some of you for help. ....

Welcome to R2R !

It is so nice to see someone smiling in 2022 ! You are obviously thrilled with your new tank.

Your prior experience will be a big asset as you start this project. I am sure the intelligent and knowledgeable members here will be glad to help.

Best wishes for your new project and 2022,
Jim

Hey everyone! I've lurked these threads on and off for years but finally made an account. I have a 14g biocube running for the past 8 years (and a 1 year old 125g planted freshwater). BUT, I just purchased my first "big girl reef tank" from Waterbox last month -- a 145g -- and I'm exited to share some of the build!

I've been in this hobby for 8 years, but I've always been very low-tech. I know I'm going to have lots of questions with my new setup and I hope I can lean on some of you for help. Thanks for reading!

Hi Rachel and Welcome! I'm Lisa. Glad you joined.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Creating a strong bulwark: Did you consider floor support for your reef tank?

  • I put a major focus on floor support.

  • I put minimal focus on floor support.

  • I put no focus on floor support.

  • Other.
