I'm new to the hobby, I currently have a 10g which is doing really well. I'm thinking of changing to a bigger tank, can any tell me how to do that. Thanks

Not trying to be smart: Take the stuff out of one tank and put it in the other one. The one thing you need to be careful of is stirring your sand up, so I'd recommend starting your new tank with a new sand bed and skim out the very top of your old one and use it also. If you have any questions in particular - ask away. Oh, and welcome to Reef 2 Reef!

How much of the old sand should I put back in? What about the filtration, if I change to a new filter, will it cause my tank to go into a new cycle? Thanks

I am in the process of switching my tank to a bigger one also, and I heard that you have to cycle the new tank fist then switch everything over because all the elements will be off (nitrate, Ph, etc) because you are adding more rock and sand etc to the bigger tank? Is this true?

I would take out a cup of old sand to seed the new tank. That's my plan. Going from a 55 gal to a 260 gal with new sand and live rock.

How about you tell us what you have now and what you're going to? How much live rock, how deep sand is? What type of filter? So we can help you better.

I have a 10 g, 15lbs of live rock, about 12 lbs of live sand, and a hang on filter, will I have to add a skimmer. I do a weekly water change. Here's some pics of the tank.
