I am in the process of re-doing my rock work, and just recently chopped up most of my SPS & LPS colonies and sold them to the local fish store gave to friends. I had previously been running a ton of marine pure instead of sand and rock, and the system was really unstable. So, the new sump has 100 pounds of crushed coral and I'm going to be adding a lot more dry rock.

Welcome to R2R....Lots of great stuff, info and help from some awesome folks. If you have not done so yet...Start a tank build thread...Great to see where you have been, Awesome for us to see what you are up to, and a great tool for others to learn from....I see that you are well established with your current tank so you can start with getting us some photos...We love to see......Maybe let us know where you have been on your journey with your tank and you say you are transitioning to softies...What are your plans..what is the stocking ideas? Great to have you here.

Well the japanese ranchu were several years ago. I don't have any fresh water now, am down to just this one tank. :) But for those who aren't familiar,... Ranchu is sort of like a "designer goldfish" that the Japanese are really wild about. They have competitions, pedigrees, etc. Mine were the Gunn Chusakul line which looked sort of like this:
They are little pigs :)
Because they are so fat and have no dorsal fin, with such stubby fins, they are really cute to watch swim. If I ever get to move to Florida I'd get some more and keep them outdoors in a pond.
Of a brood of a thousand babies, you might get half a dozen good ones as pictured above. The stubby shape comes from being raised in very shallow water, the nice dark red comes from being outdoors in sunlight and being fed a good diet, but the color distribution, nice split tail with a high angle, and overall rectangular shape from top view with wide caudal peduncle (meaty part of the tail, viewed from above) is just very good breeding. Mine were never quite as nice as the ones pictured here!
