Hi, I’m new here.
I have a white sponge that is about 2 inches in diameter. I attached a photo. Might anyone know what type of sponge this is. I think it’s far too large to be a pineapple sponge. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to R2R. Everyone is helpful here!

Welcome to R2R! Are you sure it is a sponge?

Thank you! Unfortunately I am not sure - It soft and spongy, holes throughout and what looks like an oscula. I’ve attached a picture of another small one with a small Kenya tree in the middle of it growing on the same rock.

There are people on here that know a lot more about this than I do but your newest photo almost looks like a tunicate colony. I would have guessed a Black Ball Sponge but the tissue around the holes looks more tunicate-like to me from the photo
