Hippo Tang Farting

Hey Everyone,
Don think this belongs in the disease forum, but admins may move if need be.
Been noticing my blue hippo tang is, well.....farting in the water :grinning-face-with-sweat:. I am contemplating how to describe this in a mature manner, and realizing I am not sure its possible.
So, She swims along as they do, stops, little bubble from the bottom and off she goes. Sometimes its comically "familiar" with a little poo as well. I cant stop laughing btw..... But I am generally asking if this is an issue with feeding (like with people)? Or is normal for fish to fart.
I feed Mysis Shrimp, Brine Shrimp, Nori. Mix in some Vitamin-M or garlic power. I rotate those feedings. I started to add Rotifers to the food mix recently, that is the only difference.

No farting Tang pics, but here is a cool Mille from my tank for fun. :cool:

I had forgotten, but our old blue hippo tang used to swoop up to the top repeatedly, and was apparently swallowing air. Then, the fart bubbles began. Back and forth, leaving trails of bubbles. So weird, never heard anyone else mention such.

...and yes, video you must!

I've heard it is a common thing they do to play or out of boredom. My LFS has a large display and their yellow bellied hippo goes up to the top and grabs air and then blows bubbles. This is the first I've heard of them farting those bubbles out though.

1st off, I will do my best to capture a video. Of course, I walked out to the tank, saw two more right away. Fired up the camera and shot for 10 minnutes.....nothing. She must have realized she was on camera all the sudden :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:.

She does not go to the surface and gobble air that I have noticed.... Well, possibly very occasionally. But not during or before this started, and not recently.

I had a clownfish that was a extra greedy pig and a biter just gulping air coming out of the water at feeding time…

Well one time she swallowed a bunch of air and was floating a** up until she finally ripped a big one…

My Foxface Rabbitfish does this all the time, swims to the corner of the tank, and gobbles in air, looks a bit like it's 'drinking' lol!

(although I've not paid attention to which end the bubbles come out) :p

This reminds me of a fishing tournament. A dude dumps crackers. All the fishermen in the tourney go to the spot because the gulls where flocking there in a major way. The dude that dumped took off to the hot spots with not many getting first dibs. He won the tourney. They tried to say he cheated. But he’s like I just fed the birds my left over crackers. Hahaha!

Not a fart but the first time I saw my scopas tang poop I was stunned lol. Such enormous poops for a fish! (He's my first ever proper non-nano fish, so, you know, wow.)

For farts I theorize that tangs being herbivorous would just lend itself to many a fart probably haha.

My wrasse has been farting lots for years with no issues. He is the greediest fish. I guess it’s just the same as with us, some harmless product of digestive chemical reactions. He and others then chase after and eat/taste the bubbles ;) Some fish champagne I say.
