Hi guys,

Relatively new to reef keeping but I have came back from Christmas break to find a couple of snails in the tank that either weren’t there before Christmas or were too small for me to notice. They appear to be white shelled with tiny red stripes, and not more than a few millimetres across. I have attatched a few photos, apologies if they are poor quality. Photos

The only snails I have (or had now in this case lol) are 3x Spiny Star Astraea snails.

I have no idea how they would have got in the tank as there haven’t been any new additions to the tank in months.

Any help with ID‘ing would be greatly appreciated. Should I try and remove them, also, if they’re not reef safe or easy breeders? I don’t really like the idea of my tank being overrun by snails.

Thank you!

Would you recommend that i remove the snails if they reproduce well?
i currently have 2 (from what i can see) in my DT. have not seen any more in months. apparently if you have filter socks or something similar, it helps reduce population.
