So a while back I bought a minireef 150. Its...an ok tank, my biggest problem with it is the crummy sump. But after doing some work around and having a solid upgrade path. I decided to start this thread.

My goals for this tank havnt changed all that much. I decided to make a fish focused area with plenty of nooks and crannys for my fish to hide. Next on the stocklist will be a fire goby and some sort of small blenny, in order of preference, tailspot, midas, bicolor. I love them, i need something that....perches...i like the perchy boyes.

My two occelaris have come out of isolation and have been introduced into the tank. Meet Widdershins and Deisul, all of the fish are going to be named after culty terms, referencing Zeal and Ardor because I'm the worst, clearly. Next on my upgrades list is a D300plus coral box skimmer, as finding something that fits in that sump is a nightmare. It should do well for my goals, its a basic tank. One day I plan to upgrade to a Red Sea tank and make that SPS dominant, probably just a little bigger than the 150. I want to have all sorts of things in there.

Tomorrow I am heading out, and hopefully picking up a hydra 32, maybe some snails (trochus) because im seeing gunk on the glass, and maybe another fish to put in QT.

Peace out kids

IMO - D300 plus coral box skimmer is an excellent choice - I run a 500 + Coral box in my 300 L tank.

However - there is one thing I have noted with these skimmers (including many similar skimmers) Where water and air will first meet - just there the more tiny air tube meet the water tube - precipitations will be formed - in time blocking the air intake. I had to clean this part once a month before I get an advice from @ksed in Canada to stop the skimmer for some minutes every second day or so. I have stop my skimmer 2 minutes every day for 4 months now - without needs of cleaning - it works perfect

Sincerely Lasse

So i got some fish and gear, a pair of occelaris clowns, of course, Red sea testing kits, the reef and algae pro (half off the latter due to voucher) and a big beautiul Hydra 32. Mounting it was kind of a pain, hated that thing.

Now next week to dump money on corals. But I guess thats why i worked a sixth day at double pay!
