Hole in brain coral

I noticed a hole in my brain coral today. It was one hole and then it seemed to close in the middle creating 2 holes. In one picture it looks like something is Inside the brain. Is this normal?

check your alk it may be low? There is a crab that lives under the flesh of some lps coral but I have no experience with it.

I have seen pictures of the crab miyags referred to. It comes out at night. That is best time to catch it if that is what it is. You also have flesh areas missing other than the holes you mentioned. The coral is stressed. I would check your perimeters.

That was my guess, a barnacle. Several of my corals have one incorporated in them.
