Made a couple new overflow boxed for my new tanks. Cheap black acrylic heated up and bent, Welded to another peice of acrylic, then used a router to flush cut the base of them. Came out pretty good. I plan to just weld them to the back of my acrylic tanks

Word of caution on welding these to the back panel.

When the tank is filled it will distort & bow out unevenly across the face. The box will be under stress from the distortion and I have had one fail, splitting away at the seam after a few years of use.

It is a commercially assembled tank and it took me by surprise. Of course I was working out of town when it let go…..

Being acrylic, I dried the box and reinforced around the fail points and it’s still running but in theory a fracture failure could have drained the entire welded tank if the crack had developed in another way .

Thank you for the advice. I have been going back and forth and welding it to the tank or putting a back on them and just connecting with bulkheads. Looks like I'm going to put a back on them.
