Cool can't wait so see how that works. Picked up a used one and upgraded it to the mobius app now waiting for the UV next weekend hook it all up. So on a waterbox 110 the DT is roughly 90g then the sump. So the AquaUV is rated for 150g so I should be able to do as you are doing and tune the uv in the tank should have what if I remember right like 900 gph ? Or minimum 5x ?
Great. Use the Ecotech charts to help you dial in the right flow for your M1 pump. Will depend on your head wall and return length.

Also if you start having any problems with Dinos, adjust down the flow and check to make sure the quartz sleeve is clean. Unfortunately it gets dirty quickly.

Great and yes thanks for that info on having easy access for cleaning. I did think of that but didn't think of that enough and really the length that you need to disassemble and pull out the bulb

Yes - you can precisely control flow with M1. Ecotech even gives you a chart to help you understand flow rates based on setup.
So I was messing around with mobius app and I don't see any charts I see how to speed up and slow down the pump but no graphs or charts.
I just started looking at the app but idk.
Are you basing the speed off of % ie M1 is 2000gph so 50% would logically be 1000gph ?
I dont have their lights so maybe that makes a differance ?

Correct - am basing flow off 1/2 power is half flow. The chart is on their website.

I installed two UV lights, one for my 12 gallon and one for my 30 gallon . With the 12 gallon, I connected it to the return pump as that was really my only choice. I made sure to stay below the 300 GPH for this 5 watt UV. Knowing I have a 90 degree elbow and diffuser on the Eheim 1000, I knew I was below that figure.

For my 30 gallon, I used the 15watt Aqua Ultra UV that can be driven by its own pump. I then punched out a 1/2 bulkhead to fit it there and connected it.

So, the second UV was simple matching up what other reefers recommended, Sicce 1.0.

Well just received my 25w aqua uv and wow this thing is big lol I knew the measurement but in person it is really big have to rethink where I am going to put it !
Had it all planned out to.
Tank backs up to the laundry / dog room so might have to do some cutting because this is not fitting in the cabinet and have easy accessibility.
Back to the drawing board lol

I have the 15watt hang on the back, really nice size not too big nor too small for my 30 gallon AIO temperate system. When you get a chance snap couple pics and share... Love to see other reefers work.... :)

Nice. Idk what I am going to do. This is pretty big and don't really want to put holes into the wall. And don't really think it will fit under the stand so idk
Have to ponder on it ha

So I was thinking if I hook up to the return pump straight thru what do you guys do if you don't want to use the UV ? Just unplug it ?
Does it hurt the UV to just unplug it and have the water still pass thru it ?
Or I can loop it around and put a valve on it to stop the flow.
Or just use its own pump but I would only be able to put it where the water returns.

Very simple, I have both my UV's on the Kasa app which is free and powers up your choice single, triple or 6 devices your choice. The Kasa outlet on amazon are from $14.99 - $54.99. I have my UV on reverse lighting hours. I ran them in the start and then after maturing reverse hours 9pm-6am and they shut off.

I like my system very clean of all cables but one that enter the outlet and everything is out of view, but that is just me and that is why I wanted to share how clean the Kasa is.

Well Kasa strips / plugs work great I also do have a controller I was wondering if when I hook it up in line with my return pump if it has any bad effects on the UV if the water is flowing and the uv is off. Nice tank.

Well,
To my knowledge a UV is created to encase the bulb in such a way that water has to pass through the UV for kill time.

I run my UV 24/7 in the cycle time 1-2 month of starting a new system and then do reverse lighting hours like I mentioned 9pm to 6am.

I haven't seen any I'll affects on the unit from the switching off/on. I was worried because if you have a cheap UV, I would assume it would fail.

A good quality UV should prove itself true to running light off/on that is what it is built for.

Hope that makes sense.
