I hate noise but love my aquarium. It seams most commercial overflows the outside box is lower than the inside box. The water falling over the weir will cause noise in my experience. This is going on a 55 gallon tank so it doesn't need a ton of flow but if my calculations are correct it should be able to flow around 900gph. I added in a second layer of acrylic to the outside box for a spacer so it can come to the top of the rim. I hope to get it installed this weekend. I will post pics if it works.

I started filming the build. Then after cutting pieces I thought nobody would want to watch that and stop recording. Then when I started putting it togeather I didn't start the camera. I have 2- 1" drains and a 1 1/2" coming from tank.

To better the surface skimming and minimize weir noise, you should have made the internal box longer. Looks like some nice work.

My other aquarium has a huge internal box. I hate it, it takes up way too much space. With this only being a 56 gallon tank and following the BRS/WWC method I only need a couple hundred GPS. It has 14 slots that are 1/4". 7 - 1//4" holes would be able to flow over 300gph. I figure the water line will only be 1/8" above the bottom of the teeth. I have been wrong about a lot more critacal thing. I hope to know before the end of the weekend. I am going to install it to one side of the back. Worst case scenario I can add a larger weir or just put another one on the other side. I only used maybe $30 worth of acrylic. I will post when I get it up and running.
