I've used hot glue several years ago to make under gravel filters (not using them this time around). I've been out of aquarium hobby for several years. I just had a 120 gal tank made and want to build reef tank... question; is hot glue safe for reef use.. i want to build egg crate platforms for waterscape. any links to sites would be helpful. Thank You

Any particular reason you don’t want to go with the already known tried and true methods, like superglue, epoxy, or silicone? If you intend to use the eggcrate as a foundation or skeletal structure of an aquascape, I personally would suggest epoxy.

Are you referring to caulking gun tubes of clear silicone? I was looking for the most economical way. For the amount of work I may do epoxy and
Superglue can get pricey

Yeah I used to use a big tube of GE I silicone and a caulk gun for big aquascape jobs. Just make sure you get 100% silicone, you don’t want anything with mold or mildew inhibitors.

I dont know if safe or not, but personally i wouldnt because we have several other affordable options we know are safe

Silicone can be used, but have to make sure it is reef safe. Even "100% silicone" often includes anti-mildew or other bad chemicals. I would use 2-part epoxy personally for what you are doing
