Haven't seen my 3" Hippo in a couple days, and I'm starting to get a little concerned. Prior to, it was doing quite well, eating, no signs of distress. It's a 55 gallon, but there's a lot of hiding spots I can't quite see into, and I know they can hide pretty well for a fish their size. Unless the cats ate it, it's not a carpet surfer. I don't have a huge CuC, 5 hermits, 4 nassarius,??? Brittle stars, so I don't think they could strip the body down that fast. No ammonia spikes.

Anyways, how long should I give it before I write the eulogy? I haven't had a fish vanish like this on me before.

And yes Tang Police, I have a 230 gallon I am actively setting up.

Was it a newer addition?

I had a kole tang hide in a crevase for a few days after adding to tank (velvet) and i ended up having to blow it out with a turkey baster. It was still alive but barely.
My hippo tang used to love laying flat under things too.
Crafty hiders.....
