When do you decide to ditch or frag a coral? I’ve got a frogspawn that is 8” in diameter when open. Its starting to shadow other corals. I love it but its getting huge

If its blocking light to other corals I would say its time to frag it and either set the new frags in your reef or like others stated above you can sell them off.

Send it to me. Problem solved. :)

I wish I had these kinds of problems..... my Frogspawn was the one and only piece I've gotten so far that died...... If you fragged it in one big hunk, I'd be interested.

I used to have a huge 35+ head frogspawn...and kept selling single heads to my lfs for store credit.... eventually someone made me an offer I could not refuse and I sold the entire colony...it barely fit into a 5g bucket!!

I try to keep things to a size that the coral below get enough light. I had a green with purple tips indo torch that put on 12 heads over the last year. It was shading all the zoas below it so I chopped them off and took them to a swap. The current colony is about 15 heads which is a nice size and allows the zoas to get all the light they need.
