How concerned should I be(coral enchroachment)

My tank is finally filling up and space is becoming a concern. I have this candy cane and acan colony that are so very close to touching. Will this end badly if I do nothing?

I've never had this happen personally but any time my acans touch anything but another acan it destroys it pretty fast.

I would expect bad results if they do touch. Really not sure though. Never had an acan grow into a candy cane before. I've seen a candy cane decimate some mushrooms that got too close.
