Kind of depends on the critter....

Pistol Shrimp, couple inches reputedly...
Jawfish, I think recommend at least 3"

I'd also suggest if you want burrowing critters, to use a gradient/mix of particulate sizes...and have small fragments and shell to add as they need.

(48x18) you think 100# of ocean direct should be fine? i think itl give 2 1/4" give or take a few

Sounds about right, but check the bags.. I ordered original grade and rcvd oolite.

I think BRS and some others have a calculator
