I've also been experiencing this for the past year. It's definitely not red cyano.
It's hard and slippery, with no air bubbles or hairs.
There's no red in the sand, only on the scaping or frags.
I've tried scraping it off, but it's difficult to remove. I've added sea urchins, but the effect isn't significant.
I don't know what the source of the problem is. I'm quite frustrated with this algae. It spreads very quickly. It's difficult to encrust corals, especially zoanthids.
I haven't found a way to get rid of it. Please help if anyone has successfully managed to fix it.
