How do they move

Today I came home to find that my clam had moved from where it was before .. I was wondering how do they do that i thought they glued themselves to the ground. I know that they can shoot water out of there mantle( I was shot in the face by mine when I bought it) but i don't see how they could set themselves up right by just shooting water out of there mantle. another question i have is that my clam is pretty close to my carpet should I worry about my carpet stinging it or the clam going into it?

I would think they could move rather like a snail or snake etc would move by muscle contractions as far as the carpet I think it would hurt the clam they have a powerful sting

I believe clams can only move by quickly snapping their valves closed. I'm not sure if they have a way of detaching themselves from a substrate if they've already attached though. Was your clam attached to anything in the tank?

Clams move by a foot that comes out of the byssal opening in the bottom of their shells. Often if they aren't happy they will move. Can you post a pic of your clam?

Ill take a picture after school tommorow my camera is at my moms house .. Its been in the same spot for about a month in a half since i got its been doing grreat and yesterday when i came home it had moved down to the sand bed .. I run led lights
