how do you kill sponge

Many things eat sponge. I would personally try to reduce silicates in your water and manually removing it.

I’m having this issue in my display. It sucks. It’s growing in between my acans and smothering them out. I do notice that my leptospirosis grows over it though.

This is the problem I’m having with some kinda sponge it’s taking over my tank and it’s in overflow box and filters I read that if you scrape them they could release toxins into your tank

Air exposure is correct. Exposing to air causes its cells to retract and die off. You can also inject air or vinegar into it via syringe. These sponges are known to release compounds in reef water that stunts, kills and even induces bleaching in SPS coral.
My best suggestion to get sponge to open air and brush with hydrogen peroxide which will quickly seize it, then you can brush remains with auto detail brush (like a toothbrush but firmer)

Also add a bag of chemipure elite which will absorb and rif of toxins

I had a chunk out of water for about 30 minutes and it didn’t do anything. This is like mega sponge. But.... in my case I’ve separated the rocks with it to small chunks that lepto is growing over. So it will slowly smother it. There is a streak on a large rock but I’m going to cut that section out with a dremel out of water.

Maybe if you have to scrape it do a massive water change after and run carbon. I’m going the out-compete route for mine.

I once had a black sponge, one that I wanted... wasn't invasive, I liked it... Anyway, I added a tiger cowrie to the tank, and he ate every trace of that sponge. It was 4 times his size, gone in days.

Anyway, I can't say if one would find your invasive sponge tasty or not, but it might be worth a try... LiveAquaria says out of stock, but surely you can find one somewhere. Keep a close eye on it... they're known to eat other things you might not want it munching on!

This stuff is nasty and angels don't touch it. Taking the rock out is not and option. Thinking of just putting over it and the zoas it's in and killing which sucks. Don't really want to take out the zoas but at this rate it will take over my tank.
