Hey, so my alkalinity in my Red Sea salt has been mixing at really low levels, I forget what my last bucket of it mixed to (because I trusted it) but this new bucket is mixing at like 6-7dkh which is way too low. I don’t heat during mixing and I don’t over mix either.

SO maybe I didn’t mix the salt the bucket well enough, or I could be testing wrong? (I highly doubt it). I use the DKH Hanna checker and have double checked. I even used the my batch website from Red Sea and the elements are in check. So how should I mix the salt in the bucket or fix this issue?

-Thanks

Seems unusually low for Coral Pro (should be like 10-11 dKH). What's the tank alkalinity?
It’s like 5.5 as of yesterday, it’s been low for a little while. I only have softies and they seem okay, Zoa skirts could possibly look a tad off but everything looks fine.

Something seems really off. Do you have an alternate test kit?

Agree with Blaxsun that something seems off. I use coral pro salt, my alk goes from 8.5 to 9.5 every time I do a 15% water change.

I heat the water and mix with a powerhead for at least 1-2 hours (sometimes overnight) before using. I mix at 1.025 salinity.

Well 5.5 is not right get your tests checked first

Mine mixes to 8.5 to 9.5 everytime for 2 years

Every 2 weeks and idk how many buckets 10 or 15

55 gallon ones so far

Tank hovers around 8.2

With ph 7.9 to 8.1
