How long can they hide in a tank? I recently purchased my first wrasses ever, a longfin flasher wrasse and a McCosker's Flasher. The McCosker's was shy for a day or two and is now totally acclimated but I haven't seen the longfin since I put him in the tank. That was last Wednesday (May 30). I've been checking around the tank, haven't seen that he jumped and I have 2 shrimp, 2 sallie lightfoots and lots of hermits so usually if something is dead I find a congregation around it.

So is it possible he's still hiding or should I just give up hope?

May be hiding.
I haven't seen my flasher in over a month.

I'm guessing mine is dead.

Mine just got eaten by the maxi-jet that runs my Bak pak Skimmer, mine was a carpenters ... but it hid in my tank very very well when I first got him. I hope yours shows up soon for you... even a glimpse of him sticking his head out of the rocks for a second so you know he's still there.

My only experience is with a McKoskers flasher wrasse. Like yours it hid and was shy for a couple days, then was out and about as normal. Hopefully your other guy is still in there and only hiding.

I've had two LongFin Fairies - they are good hiders :) Its very possible he's still hiding, depending on how small he is.

Word of caution, LongFins can be very aggressive to newcomers once he's established. My last one was a stud, beautiful colors but was very aggressive to anything new, consistently chasing the new guy around.

Good luck, I hope he turns up for you

Well good to know it's still possible he's hiding. I hope he turns up, but I haven't seen a peak of him even at feeding time. We'll see. It's a bummer if he died first of all but if he died and I can't find it it's a double bummer since I can't even get credit... but I'm holding out hope that he's in there somewhere lol.

hang in there...i hope he is just hiding! my blue flasher hid for the first day, but not as long as yours. good luck
