How many AIs?

I am crunching #s for lighting for a 3 foot tank SPS dominant tank. If I were to go LED, should I do on Sol and one Nano, or is Two Nanos enough light. In other words, is it worth the extra $100 to have one of them be a sol?

I would go with 2x Sols if it was me doing an SPS tank.

I have two AI Sol Blues over a 60" 100G reef and have great coverage.
I didn't like their mounting system as it is too close to the surface so I raised mine up to 12" above the water line and mounted them parallel to the tank vs perpendicular for better coverage.
I also have a friend with a 6 foot tank who did the same with three Sols and has great SPS and LPS growth in his too.

I would start with one Sol or Sol Blue and raise the height, I think you will be pleased. You could always add a second one in the future or change optics if it doesn't suit your needs. Its nice they are expandable with just a connector cable.
