How many dimensions is your flow pattern?

In the early days of reefing, we were blasting return pumps and powerheads in a single direction. On/off.

Now we've progressed to propeller and gyre style pumps. Most of us have pumps now going in opposing directions, but most of the flow is still only on an east/west axis. Corals get hit from the left or right.


If you were challenged to create this in an aquarium, how would you do it?

Hard to tell exactly what's going on, flow wise. Looks like your corals love it, though. You are running 2 nero 5's? What setting do you use?
