Mine never gets that bad lolWhy a " silicate buster ". I have never heard of that. Also I see the pump. Is yours zero waste? Yes here is what my city water does to my first stage filter
I have municipal water. Attached are the water test results. I'm not sure how many stages are ideal for an RODI system. I've been purchasing RODI from my LFS up until now.
My incoming tds is 2-300tds your lucky with the well, are you in the city or out where it gets niceI'm happy I have a well. I have a whole house filter, 5' tall gac filter for radon, and my incoming ppm is 45ish to the RO filter. No other prefilter.
You are lucky. I had to deal with peoples wells quit a bit. They get runoff from whatever the farmers use, E.coli, and Sulphur. Even a good well can go bad literally overnight. Someone builds a home drills a well hits Sulphur. Then everyone gets it.I'm happy I have a well. Does the diverted water go into some sort of reservoir before the hot water heater?Take a look at Watts NO WASTE WATER RO system. I am vary happy with mine. I had to buy the DI filter separate on amazon. The same vender sells replacement filters for the Watts, and also resin for the DI. It is the no waste water design I like the most it is more expensive but saves in the long run. There are now copy cat ones out there.
No it does have to be installed " piping" a certain distance from the heater though. It uses a pressure pump to force water through and back into the water heater. Both tubes are connected to the heater. I did not read the distance from the tubing connection requirements until I was done My fault still works. Get the brass fittings work greatDoes the diverted water go into some sort of reservoir before the hot water heater?
This is something I'd be interested in

Yes saw that , and your correct still beats wasting 4 gallons back down the drainI like the highly inaccurate statement that other systems waste 12 gallons for 1 gallon of RO.... even the least inefficient systems produced today are around 4:1
