how much coral does it take to start dosing?

So for a 40 breeder with weekly 5 gallon water changes with red sea coral pro at what point should I expect to start doing two part dosing?
 
When your main three parameters can't be maintained by water changes alone, then is time to start dosing. As fast ad how much coral, it depends on what type of coral you have.
Agreed. There's not really any way to know when dosing is required except monitoring the parameters.
 
When Coraline growth takes off that will also put an increased demand of your ca and alk
