I know I know. This has probably been covered a million times but I can't find an answer. Honestly how much light can a chalice take? I am getting tired of all the frags on the sandbed. I want chalices on rocks. I want them higher up. How much will most chalices take before then or toasted? If a chalice is brown does that mean it could use more light or it needs less light? What is the general rule? I am not talking about a specific chalice just most of them.

I keep my Tyree Red about half way up in my tank directly under a 250W 14k Phoenix. and it also gets blasted by my MP40 and it looks GREAT! I am slowly moving my others up and see how they do.......

About 12-14"

thats a high placement for any tank. do you believe youre getting better colors higher? the only problem i get for placing them high is their growth, they tend to encrust instead of plating. do you see this happen?

Oh yeah, much better color as well as growth. I can't say about plating vs. encrusting yet it has just started to grow off of the frag plug ( I have fragged it twice).
