dry them out for calcium reactor media. Bordering on perpetual motion to a certain degree lol.

This. Only bad thing is that the skeletons melt quicker than the mined media. But still a great use of resources. Even if you don't have a reactor, you probably know someone else that does. One of my friends gives me his old coral skeletons for this very purpose.

When I broke my last tank down I sold all I could, but what I couldn’t sell I pulled, dried, bleached, and washed what ended up comfortably filling a 5 gallon bucket. Montipora, birdsnest and lots of fast growing stags. Gave it away

Sounds funny but I agree. I feel dirty throwing away corals but there's not a lot I can do about it, especially if nobody even wants them for free (in my area).
I felt sick to my stomach throwing away frags of neon toadstool leather, zoas, bubblegum digi, birds of paradise birds nest. But my fish literally had no swimming space and the flow dead spots were ridiculous. No amount of hybrid lighting is going to help the bottom of the colonies once it tables out. I’ve flooded my lfs with enough monti caps to last until Hawaii lifts it’s ban!
