Hi guys,

i have 5 red sea 225 microns filter socks that i've been cycling for more than 6 months. I change the socks every 3-4 days or sometimes once a week if im too lazy. I wash them in the washing machine. How long will they tend to last and when should i buy new socks?

You will notice they plug up more and more quickly. When I cant run them long enough to not be annoying I get new ones.

Buy new ones when it thins out or clogs too quickly. I have had mine for a year and they are still going strong. Mine sit in a bleach/water mix in a bucket for a week before I get a chance to get them in the washing machine. Then they get washed again with bleach. I would think they will last for a long long time.

If you guys pressure wash them, they never clog up. Im running mine by the decades not years. Run them as long as you dont have holes in them.

Mine clog about every 2 days. 135 gal bare bottom with high flow along the tank bottom that kicks up the detritus.
