I have a 13.5 gallon tank that has been running for almost two years and a 40 gallon tank that has been running for just under a year. I got in the habit with my 13.5 gallon tank of changing the water every Thursday because of how the parameters could change so quickly. I also do this every week on my 40 gallon tank. I was curious to see how often everyone changes their tank water. Sometimes I think i can let my 40 gallon go a little longer but i get paranoid because I am on such a routine.

personally, haven’t done a single WC in my 40b. everything is doing relatively well. some GHA here and there but that’s because of me over feeding. now that i’ve dialed in my feeding pattern, the GHA is receding. some cyano in the sump but i feel like it’s because my chaeto is consuming my nitrate and phosphate faster than i can keep them up(so i may rip a chunk out)

I went from a 29g tank to a 125g tank and knew I didn’t want to be doing large water changes so I set up an AWC system with a DOS running it one direction to take water out and then the other direction to add water back. I would do 1 gallon a night. Then I started a refugium and was able to stop doing water changes all together. I even took my skimmer offline since the cheato was exporting so much.
