28 here, and been keeping reef tanks on and off since I was 16. Finally finished medical school and now have the time and resources to do things right. Much more fun spending too much money on frags when you're not serving tables between classes to pay for it.

Honestly pretty surprised at how young this group is, everyone from this hobby I've met in person is quite a bit older.

- Been in saltwater since the 50's when I collected critters from tide pools in Maine.
- Learned to scuba and collected critters from the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea in the 70's.
- Bred and raised clownfish from the Arabian Gulf in the 80's.
- Did a hiatus in the 90's as the Gulf War made diving a bit difficult.
- Now focusing on small tanks with beautiful corals here in Tennessee.
- Burned out of keeping fish having contracted LTS (large tank syndrome).
(LTS - the desire for larger and larger tanks until they consume your life - similar to the Peter Principle)

Anyone else not surprised by the fact that this hobby is fun for all ages? The poll shows a pretty even spread from ages 20-60.

I'm 47

I have been playing with all kinds of aquariums and ponds since I was 13. I can still remember taking home fish bags on the bus before I had a car.

Just started in the hobby and I am over 50. Talk about a late start. However this has been one of the best things I have done despite all the issues and mistakes . The problem solving is a major part of what makes this hobby so relaxing; that is is after the problem has been solved.
