How to add anthias successfully?

If it is coming from a lfs you know and has been healthy you can consider keeping it in an observation tank for a few months. Getting it acclimated and eating well. Medicate if needed. I had three in observation that were doing well but then succumbed to uronema. That’s the risk though.

These are sweet.

Dose anyone QT their Anthias with Copperpower or prazipro protocols at all? I have a chance to get a Ventralis anthias, BUT with how expensive they are I am unsure about using Copper, or what protocols I should use, since I have a tang gang in the DT i will be adding it to! Any advice recommendataion?
Have done qt with coppersafe for 30 days on anthias. No issues.

This is my first reply, and... today I think I successfully (finally) added 6 of my purple queen anthias. First I give them a hiding place, a wreckage ship aquarium toy with holes. Then, I always "cook" 2 cube of baby shrimp, dried artemia, NLS, and some brine shrimp flakes, together with garlic guard, vitality and aqua forest fish V. I give them gradually from morning to afternoon (7-8 times). And today i saw they are healthy and swimming around happily!

Make sure your rock work leaves plenty of sleeping places, caves, etc. this helps. I quarantined with copper power. I had a few die. When I tried again I did so very slowly adjusting the amount a little bit each day until the desired amount (which is lower for anthias.)

I find that to be one of the most important things. Mine will periodically go take a nap in the rocks in the middle of the day, probably because many of them are deeper water fish and don't like the light in their faces? Hiding spaces make them feel safe and that lowers any susceptibility to stress/diseases. I also keep peppermint shrimp and I frequently observe cleaning behavior while they're hiding in the rocks which also may be the reason they hide mid-day.

I think Lyres are an awesome choice. Mine are super eaters, very well behaved but not pushovers and they're model citizens. They're great. My LFS has a bunch of these and they have been there for a long time. That's where these guys came from. Very healthy and unblemished. They seem very happy and calm.

My question to anyone else more in the know is would it be safe to add 2 more female lyres? I want these to be the fish focus in my tank for obvious reasons as this is not a tank for tangs or anything larger like that.

Would be fine! The more females the male has the happier he is and the less he chases one female. I had these in my 125, 4 females and a male. I started with 2 females one male then added the other two females about 2 months in

I like lyretails. I had a group of six along with a bimac. They seemed to be the hardiest and least aggressive towards othe fish in the tank. This time around I went with Bartlet’s. Definitely meaner to each other but couldn’t resist their beautiful colors.
