I am taking a heater from my 10 gallon and moving it to my 20 gallon as it’s rated up to 25 I just have it on it’s lowest setting. My 20 gallon is empty and I have a 10 gallon heater to replace the one in my 10 gallon.
How can I change them out without the temp dropping or rising too much?

Just change them out. Unless the ambient temp in the room is freezing, having the heater unplugged for a bit won’t hurt anything. Mine is in the power strip with my pumps and I shut it off 10 mins every day to feed, and about 30 mins or when doing WC and vacuuming the sand.

When you want to remove a heater make sure you unplug it but leave it in the tank a few minutes so if it was on it can let the heat go into the water.
They get quite hot.
