How to clean a sump

well its all the same algea growing in my display, just not the chateo i want because the algae in my display is also going no where. this is my third failed fuge so im ready to scrap it, buy a skimmer and sell my AI PRime fuge light. not blaming it, blaming my self for not being able to grow the algea i want really. I like the powder head option, i donbt like the use of a nother eltrical plug in though. mines only so bad from two batches of negleted cheato melting and settling on the bottom. My urchin had a hay day down there thats for sure.

what skimmers would you recomend? tons of options and tons of price points.

Don’t blame yourself, maybe try a different macro in your fuge. I’ve also had luck with ulva/ sea lettuce. You could also try an algae turf scrubber, which uses “nuisance” algae within the unit. For skimmers, you can really go wrong with reef octopus. That’s what I used before I remove it because my nutrients were ways too low or zero.
