How to disable skimmer

I have the new aquamaxx mulitfilter that includes a skimmer. I need to disable the protein skimmer for dosing some medicine, but would like to keep the pump running for the bio. Do you think disabling the air intake will do the trick?

Yeah just block it or stuff it with something solid so zero air gets in. That will keep it from bubbling and nothing will be removed. You had it right.

The pump will have A LOT more flow when the air is cut off, just in case that matters. It may be noisy as a result.
