How to DIY pod/phyto culture

Wondering if algae barn "ocean magic" phyto can be cultured from the bottle. I am gunna try to do my first culture operation using some 5 gallon water cooler barrels and led wrap lights. Hoping to grab the pod and ocean magic combo and grow them rather then just adding to tank. Is this a normal way to go about this or should I just get a kit and save the hassle

You need to culture them separately. If you culture with the pods, the pods will eat all the phyto. I recommend starting with a smaller container, then scaling up as you grow more phyto.

I use 2 liter soda bottles, air pump+airline, and a 100w eq LED bulb for culturing phytoplankton. You'll also need F2 fertilizer, available on Ebay and other places. Miracle-Gro works too.

I bought Ocean Magic with the intent of feeding pods and I noticed that it looked way more diluted than the phytho people use in the YouTube videos.
I contacted AlgaeBarn and they confirmed they didn't intend OceanMagic to be used for raising pods.
I ended up wasting the 2 bottles of OceanMagic and bought a starter culture from Amazon. The seller was Mercer of Montana. That product was way more saturated.
