Hi guys.

i bought Bulk Reef Supply 2-PART PHARMA CALCIUM & ALKALINITY STARTER PACKAGE

But i am not sure how to dose.
My Alk is at 8, calcium450 and mag 1525.

i wanted to bring my alk up to 9.

On the BRS web site i can use the calculator to find out what measurement to dose to bring my alk to 9....

But do i have dose the same amount of alk and cal, even if my c alciumis at 450?

Thax

Bulk reef supply has a calculator. For liquid soda ash, pharma jug, you need 62.4 ml to raise an alk of 8 to 9 for a 90 gallon system. I think I recall the number right. Generally, you dose the same amount of Ca and alk but not simultaneously or you will get precipitation.

so even if my Ca is at a good level, i need to dose alk and Ca?
if dose 10 ml of alk i need to dose 10 ml of Ca..

is that right?

It’s ok to dose just one and not the other as you are working to get your parameters in line.

Also note that you shouldn’t dose the full amount to raise your alkalinity by 1 dkh at once. Stability is key and making a big change like that all at once would likely have a negative effect on your corals.

Instead break it up and try to raise it over one or two weeks, or even more. 8 dkh isn’t a bad place to be and it’s better to go slowly and not shock everything.
