How to frag a green toadstool ?

So I was thinking of fragging this green toadstool. How would I do it?
Bought it as a frag now it's the size of a softball.
Just cut like a quarter size pc and glued it to a plug ?
Will it grow a base/trunk and will the original grow back in the area I cut it ?

I am no expert, but when I bought my toadstool, I watched him frag it from his large one, he simply took scissors, he cut off a piece, he glued that straight onto a plug.When we got home, we took it from the plug and placed it in a rock.It created its own new stem or foot, and has grown up from that.

What I do:
Sharp scissors, dipped in isopropyl alcohol for 30 min before then rinsing.
One container of tank water, one container of tank water with lugol based dip for healing.
Cut around the “shroom” to about an inch of the stalk in the lugol solution . You can make the pieces as large or as small as you want . Rinse big toadstool and back in tank.

There are multiple methods for attaching that work. I do a small toothpick through the piece then glue the toothpick to the plug/tile. The pieces will attach after a couple weeks, then trim excess toothpick, it will grow over the rest .Others have done rubble rocks in some type of plastic/tupperware with mesh over the top so the pieces don’t escape.

As far as how long it takes to grow back. Mine was sad for about a week(cutting off most of its body can have that effect), but it is growing fine a month later

Just make sure you run some carbon to be safe and rinse the pieces well before back in tank.These things release a lot of slime during fragging that may be detrimental to other coral

Got everything except this....
Cut around the “shroom” to about an inch of the stalk.
It would be a really big frag if I got within a ince of the stalk. And what do you mean by shroom?
Also I have to do it in the tank the rock it's on is really big and structure wise can't be removed

You can cut as much or as little off as you want. You can make the “frags” as big or as small as you want.
What I mean is leave the stalk and as much of the “top” as you want but I usually don’t go closer than an inch from the stalk.

If you can’t remove it, then I would minimize the cutting and still pull the cut pieces to trim smaller outside of the tank, and to dip in some type of iodine dip to assist healing.
Carbon will be a must

Im under the same situation, i can't take the rock out of the tank.

How long before it comes back ?

Give it time as long as it is not melting it should recover fine do you have a picture

It's not melting it just tan color

Well seems the mother didn't survive but the frags off it are doing good.
Don't know why the mother didn't make it maybe to much at once idk
