How to frag thick Kenya tree base/trunk?

Fragging the branches is simple, but how do you cut the base to prevent it from getting too thick/wide?

As far as fragging that big boy IDK how to deal with that "trunk" other than removing it entirely and then replacing with fragged tips.

I keep mine under pretty strong light and I wonder if that is the reason that the trunk is not as "pronounced". Perhaps yours is extending out for light??
