I'm looking to buy a fixture the problem is it's in boston and I live in California .have any of you done a long distance transaction and how did you do it .i really don't want to risk loosing 400$..

Most of the time, nowadays, for the transaction, its done through Pay Pal.

I do have paypal but what if it's a damaged product can I file a claim or is it a lost cause lol.

You can file a claim. I have done this a few times with paypal and all but one time I got my money back. If you insurance it and it's damaged the seller would have to file the claim with the shipping service he used. DO NOT pay as paypal gift, if you do and the person decided not to send it or it broken you are screwed. unless the seller is up front.

I bought an $1100 camera on line and it can slightly damaged. The battery door would not stay closed. Did not matter I added the grip, but I contacted the seller and he did not want to do anything about it. Emailed paypal asking for $100 refund do to damage and about 14 days later I got refunded $100.

Pay Pal is good far filing claims with.
